Get Out: 24 Hours on Campobello Island

Twenty-four hours. I gave myself that timeframe earlier this summer to see what I could see at Roosevelt Campobello International Park in New Brunswick, Canada.

It takes about 2½ hours to make the drive east from Bangor to Campobello Island. Start off heading east on Route 9, commonly referred to as “The Airline.” Then take U.S. Route 1 into Machias, then into Lubec, following the signs to Campobello Island.

It’s at Lubec where you cross the FDR Memorial Bridge from Maine into New Brunswick and on to Campobello Island. A valid passport is a must for this trip.
