Where can you find beach balls, Hawaiian shirts, and a penguin named Pepe in the middle of January? At EMMC’s Winter Beach Ball fundraiser, an event that raised over $30,000.
While attendees were warmed by the level of giving, they also worked up a sweat dancing to the Tony Boffa Band amongst faux palm trees and hits from the 1950s. Though dancing to the oldies and wearing flip-flops are all in good fun, the cause was a worthy one. Contributions, along with private donations, go to benefit EMMC’s CancerCare center and the Maine Institute for Human Genetics and Health.
The Beach Ball went so well, next year’s bash has already been scheduled.
